HATHA  YOGA FOR ADULTS
Hatha yoga comes from blending the opposites of the sun (ha) and the Moon (tha) into a harmonious one. Hatha yoga uses the physical body as a tangible place to start a journey to the deeper, more subtle aspects of Being.
Naomi has been teaching adults yoga since 2005 and has maintained a solid personal practice since 1993. She brings this experience into her teaching style, with passion and true enthusiasm. Understanding that anyone can practice yoga!
Exploring the benefits of yoga and the relationship it has with daily life.  With the ultimate aim of merging the individual self with universal self.
Witnessing, and observing the self, with full awareness, in all our actions and reactions.  Observing ones self, in the moment, with others and in nature to become more mindful of the effect we are creating, within us and around us-the vibration one creates consciously or unconsciously.  So moving from gross  to the subtle, and from the macro to the micro.  To be free to move through the elements to be apart of space.

If you just practice asana (postures),  you will definitely feel lighter in the body, but does your mind change?  Many begin yoga for the physical benefits but stay for everything else that it is. Moving towards the more subtle aspects of Being.
Also observing how the breath effects our mind and body and  how the mind effects our breath and body. The observer (student, self) is able to witness the fluctuations of the mind’s stuff, as one becomes more present in the practice and as the practice continues to deepen.
So keep in mind, the journey is not one of striving but of letting go.

This is where Naomi’s classes and private lessons include  a balanced and complete approach to the practice,  starting with guided deep relaxation (yoga nidra). To unwind the mind and body of emotional and physical tension, stress and daily anxieties that accumulate.  Pranayama (breathing practices), to energise the body and mind, to be able to practice the postures more effectively.  Asana’s (postures), to give the body a good all round workout, for firming, toning, strengthening, and flexibility.   Completing with meditation. All in a safe, caring space  with focus on breath awareness, during the class.

The body is cleansed, strengthened and opened so that the flow of prana (vital life energy) is enhanced and sustained. The mind is calmed and clarity begins to emerge.  You might even witness old habits that don’t even serve us are released and we are touched by, and eventually merge with spirit.
Another limb to yoga, includes the  social and personal ethics.  Making it a coherent system for development.  So not only asanas, breathing, sustaining focus, meditation and samadhi (return to stillness), it is away of life, a philosophy to live by.
Deepening the connection of the true Self  and how yoga integrates into our daily life, in modern society is more relative today than ever, a true blessing, is the gift of yoga. To  bring us into higher states of awareness and consciousness-the yoga Bliss.
Creating and living a balanced happier  life can only have a greater benefit on us and others around us as well.

Naomi Nahoum was fortunate to have been trained under Acharya Upendra Roy, in 2005.  Acharya has practiced, taught and trained countless students yoga in Sydney, Australia since 1968.  Acharya high lighted and acknowledged “yoga is the realization that we are spirit”.
